With a background spanning administration, retail, warehousing, and training, Matt brings a wealth of experience and a practical approach to learning and development. After completing 10 GCSEs and 3 A Levels, he began his career in an administrative role at the Jobcentre before moving into retail with John Lewis, where he spent six years working across sales, stock control, and maintenance.

Following his time in retail, he moved into warehousing, an industry he has now worked in for 19 years. For the past 11 years, he has specialised as an instructor, helping individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to work safely and effectively in warehouse environments.

Outside of work, Matt is a passionate sports fan, particularly football, and proudly supports Birmingham City and England. He also enjoys swimming and tries to fit in a couple of sessions each week. Music is another major interest, with a particular love for rock and metal. Although he doesn’t play an instrument himself, his passion for the genre is unmistakable.

When time allows, Matt enjoys watching films, gaming on his PS5, and travelling abroad with his wife. Together, they are members of a holiday club and regularly visit destinations across Europe, with Tenerife being a particular favourite.

A sociable person by nature, he enjoys spending time with friends and family and making the most of any opportunity to get together and celebrate.

Fun Fact

Matt lives with his wife, stepdaughter, and their three cats, Luna, Bella, and Tonks, all named after Harry Potter characters. He also has four tattoos, has survived two unsuccessful piercing attempts, and has been compared to “Fat Thor” thanks to his long hair and beard a comparison he takes in good humour.
