During his military career, he served in various locations within the mainland, Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Cyprus, Kenya, and Germany. Dan has a passion for Health and Safety, due to operating as a fleet manager within the logistics department of his workplace were he undertook risk assessments and conducted internal and external audits.

Dan also attended numerous courses in his last two years as a Soldier, preparing himself for the transition to civilian life.

The qualifications that Dan has gleaned during his career and transition to being a civilian are as follows:

  • City and Guilds Level 2 in Catering and Hospitality.
  • Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety.
  • Certificate in Professional Development in Professional Investigation (Teesside University).
  • Train the Trainer.
  • Edexcel BTEC Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
  • Trauma Risk Manager Practitioner.
  • Chartered Management Level 4 Diploma in Management and Leadership.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK).
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management.

During his spare time, Dan enjoys carpentry, furniture restoration, golf, Fishing, walking, researching history, studying construction and civil engineering and finally, a bizarre hobby of metal detecting. Dan lives in Shrewsbury with his fiancée Suzanne, her two grown up boys, both of whom work in construction and last but no means least, Jess the crazy Cocker Spaniel.
