Lesley Heath, PLT Trainer, has recently completed her Level 5 NVQ Occupational Health and Safety Practice after a year of studying.
Lesley took this educational challenge on for professional development but it definitely became a personal goal for her to see it through successfully.
Being involved in health and safety training, Lesley is updating and learning new skills often, to keep abreast of any changes in legislation and wanting to ultimately achieve Chartered status, this NVQ qualification will certainly help her to take the next step in her professional career.
There were moments working through the NVQ that were a struggle for Lesley, as she felt at times that she was reinventing the wheel in an effort to produce the necessary evidence to prove her competence and knowledge for the various units, which covered topics from implementing communication systems, identifying and assessing risks to developing policies and promoting positive health and safety cultures. Although at the same time, it demonstrated how much Lesley had done throughout her health and safety career, the policies, risk assessments, proactive and reactive monitoring systems that she has written, produced and implemented, not just at PLT Training but previously.
When asked what she enjoyed most, Lesley said, “Finishing and getting the NVQ signed off, now onto the next challenge!” A fantastic attitude from Lesley and everyone at PLT is immensely proud of her achievement, with Nicc Bennett, PLT Managing Director, commenting “It isn’t an easy feat, balancing studying with working and your personal life at any stage of your career but Lesley took the challenge on and we are incredibly happy for her.”
All in all, a great accomplishment for Lesley, perfectly paving the path to Grad IOSH followed by Chartered status for her. Well done!
